Born in a nobleman's family in Smogorzewo in Great Poland, Miaskowski attended probably a Benedictine school in Lubin and the well-known gymnasium founded by Bishop Lubrański in Poznań. He spent his whole life managing various country estates.
Miaskowski was the author of political and panegyrical poems, e.g., £ód¼ Opaleńska, but is best known for his Zbiór rytmów (Collection of Rhythms), published in 1612 and 1622. In many carols, psalms, and reflective poems, Miaskowski told of his somber religious experience, using elaborate poetic figures and mythological concepts.
